It’s 5 am, the wind is no longer howling and the snow has stopped falling. A quick look at the thermometer says it is 17 degrees outside. We still have power, and that is a good thing.
The past couple days have been quite interesting to say the least. We are snuggly warm and tremendously grateful for awesome good neighbors that have looked after us and made it easier for me to care for our animals the past two days.
They brought us delicious homemade chicken noodle soup and pumpkin bread. They shoveled paths to the chicken coops and peacock house. Today, another neighbor will be by with his tractor to plow out the driveway. We are so very grateful.
I will say this, having a tarp over the roof of your house, while a blizzard is raging, is a scary thing. The first night of the storm I felt as though I was awake all night listening to the ping ping ping of sleet against the windows and the howling whipping of wind as it flapped at the tarp on the roof. I feared the next day the tarp would come down in shreds and the house would be full of snow. That did not happen.
The sky has turned on the silver and pink lights and I think I hear Mr. Cottage stirring, time to begin another day. I hope those of you that have experienced this storm are all fairing well.

I was sorry to hear that life has been difficult for you with Mr Cottage recovering from his operation. It must have been worrying with that heavy snow arriving in the middle of your renovations, The snow does look beautiful in your pictures, I’m glad you have such wonderful neighbours. Take care. Good neighbors are such a joy and a blessing. In one of these recent posts, you included new cottage names you are pondering. I can’t find it now but I liked your suggestion better than Mr. Cottage’s suggestion. Even if you go with a more sedate paint job, you could still have some of your old favorite colors on the porch ceiling like you do now.

Hi Miss Linda – I can always count on you and your memory, yes I did have something up about the name change mine was Sunflower cottage. I’m not saying my new colors will be considered in some peoples mind – sedate, just different. We are counting our blessing that this storm wasn’t as bad as it could have been, and that the neighbors really came through for us. Still pondering the names….
