Red Dirt Farm and Studio

I had this dream last night, I was traveling around the world seeing beautiful amazing places.  I was quite moved by everything I was experiencing and wanted to take photos, I kept pressing the button but my camera wouldn’t respond.

 

It was quite cold this morning when I headed out to open The Gypsy Dawn Art Wagon.  The grass was so heavy with frost every step crunch crunch crunch.  The air was still and my breath hung for a moment in a white swirling cloud before drifting away.  Bluebirds overwintering here were singing ever so loudly their song was so crisp and clear.  I wanted to capture this moment in my mind it was so lovely.

I went back inside and got my camera, I tried to photograph the millions of sparkly diamond frost crystals, but it just seemed like I couldn’t get the camera to respond to what I was seeing.  I thought to myself, I wished I had my macro lens on the camera, and just as quickly my mind switched to I wish I had my telephoto lens on the camera.  The blur of blue in the corner of my eye.  There just then.  Bluebirds darting from branch to branch and in and out of several of the nesting boxes.  No matter how many times I see them do this it always seems like a gift from nature.  I hurried back to the house and changed lenses and came back out to capture that amazing blue.

Quite similar to my dream, I just couldn’t get the lens to focus, or my eyes to focus, or the light right, I fiddled with the settings and finally, I said to myself it was what it was.

One of the things I have been working on this year is acceptance.  Life has had so many twists and turns for us here at the farm in recent years, and quite frankly I thought this was the year things would settle down and we would all get back on track, but it wasn’t meant to be. So I am accepting that sometimes things aren’t perfect, aren’t in focus and that is just part of this life journey and less than perfect is good.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Thanksgiving has come and gone and now December is upon us, soon a new year will be here.

This has been a busy year with so many new experiences and as I said, twists and turns that we never saw coming, some not so good some were delightful.  Just like everyone else, we have a full calendar for December.

I may not be back to this place before the new year, so I want to wish you all the very best and thank you for following along this year.
