Red Dirt Farm and Studio

Living a creative life artist farmer dreamer

Not being one that feels as though they can offer upbeat advice, positive thoughts and such, I’m just not going to attempt to do so.  I try to look on the positive side of things, although I’ll admit there are times when I struggle with it.  I’m just not the cheerleader type. Like  – yay people, everything is gonna be alright.  I’m also not going to sit around and talk doom and gloom with y’all.

I had been feeling there is a lack in interest in my blog posts and before this world crisis started, I was preparing to go into our busy season here on the farm, which by nature would take my time and take me away from blogging and this blog would just quietly shut down for either ever or awhile, whichever it was meant to be.

Just like everyone else in the world, I’m in a state of flux and not sure what is next.

uncertainty. certainly.

The take you to your knees blows keep coming for our family at the risk of sounding like some whiny ass country song.

After the last few weeks back and forth to the hospital with my dad (he is doing great now), our wounded chicken Summer who has needed lots of care, the multiple fox attacks that are leaving us constantly scrambling to protect the girls.

There isn’t a roll of toilet paper anywhere!

Our Boo dog had a medical event this week that has left us in a place of needing to make very difficult decisions.  We don’t want to make a decision out of haste, nor do we want this situation to drag on.  I’m asking my spirit guides to help me make the right choices.  I’ll talk with the vet again on Monday.

So it has been another difficult week for us on top of all that other world stuff that is happening.  I’m feeling really overwhelmed and bad about not replying to those of you that have taken your time to comment on my last blog post.  I have been debating turning off the comments on my posts, I guess that would help me a bit with my guilt, but that seems selfish.  One of the reasons I really enjoy blogging is connecting with people through the blog and our conversations.  I do care and look forward to your comments.  So, the answer is I don’t know.  Which seems to be where I am about everything.

Uncertain.

Here is my weekly Photo Journal I do hope it provides a bit of an escape.

I would miss your blog very much if you decide to cut back or stop. Your photos, the farm, your relationships with humans, pets and wildlife, have been a source of joy and inspiration. Having said that I get it. I think we all do (globally) get it.
I don’t consider myself a cheerleader either and it’s been difficult to not dwell on fears and uncertainty. I feel like we’re being forced to live in the moment. It’s tough at best. Good luck with all that your dealing with. Sending love and light your way. Be well.💞❤️

I too enjoy keeping up with your blogs and photos although I don’t always comment. And although I consider myself a cheerleader of sorts, I’m not feeling it right now and won’t pretend. You’re right, so much uncertainty right now and I’m scared. There – I said it, I’m scared. However, I will move forward and protect the best I/we can and hope for the best.

I think you’re going to get a lot of comments about your blog helping us readers, and how sad we would be if you stopped. But I also understand. Please just know you are thought of, remembered, loved.

Dear Kim… I share the same feelings expressed by others, and hope that you might decide to post your beautiful and inspirational photos with few (or no) words as a photo journal, so we can stay connected to you and the incomparable Red Dirt Farm. It would leave a hole in my heart not to hear from you occasionally… you and your blog are very special to many… and do not feel you need to reply, because you do not. I think we need to try and stay connected to people now more than ever. And even though we may not know each other in person, we do know one another, because you (and other wonderful bloggers) have generously shared some of your lives us. And even if it is virtual, it is real and genuine and meaningful. xoxo Debbie

You are one of my favorite bloggers. I love reading your posts and looking at your pictures and artwork. I will miss you if you go away but if you aren’t feeling it I get that too. You have a lot going on in your life right now. If you do take a break I will be here if and when you choose to come back. Best wishes to you and your family. ❤❤

I look forward to your posts, and always know they will become sparse as growing season begins, so the fewer posts when they do arrive, are all the more special. But I, along with your other followers, know there is much going on in your life, not the fun stuff, and it’s ever-present … so that it wears on you after a while and it will take a toll on your health. So we’ll miss you if you go on hiatus, but put the time usually creating the blog posts into painting or one of your other relaxing and fun crafts. Then return to the blog at Summer’s end. Don’t exit for good Kim. In the meantime, may your troubles be minimal and may you make the right choice for that sweet Boo dog who looked at us with pensive eyes. I hope the chickens only run for their lives from Mr. Red Dirt Farm sitting on the John Deere tractor and not the neighborhood foxes. p.s. – I stifled a giggle at the bunny sniffing the flowers. Take care and stay safe from this virus that is overtaking our lives. ❤

I know how you feel. You don’t have to respond to everyone. Sometimes blogging is like keeping a journal and getting your thoughts out there. It helps you cope with difficulty. Best wishes and take care.

  9. Your blog is actually one of my favorites on my Reader list. I’m sorry I haven’t commented on a post of yours before, I almost did one time and for some reason I ended up not doing it, I don’t know if something wouldn’t work or what. But I love your photos, your artwork and your personal stories – it’s my style and I find it charming and poetic in a way. Beautiful, soulful blogs like yours are the MOST interesting.
