Such goodness to hold in my heart

We lost a piece of our heart this week.

Our sweet little senior rescue dog crossed over.

Her name was Peanut, she now rests peacefully under the pear tree. Though she was part of our lives for only a short four years and just a speck of a dog her absence feels big and all-consuming.

Hello – can you please help me get these boots off my feet

Double-crossed by a fan dancer

– from the movie gold diggers of 1937?  Not a particularly good movie in my opinion and I think this was the only funny line.  Somehow it tickles my fancy.

I love old movies, I like to watch them early in the morning before the sun comes up.  It seems to be the only time I can sit still long enough to watch a movie.

herbal steam tablet – DIY

Sometimes it is the simplest of things that make me have happy.

Here is one of them.

 Herbal steam tablets.

So easy.

You will need:

1 box of baking soda

Essential oils: eucalyptus, rosemary and lavender

a mini muffin tray and muffin papers

Place the baking soda in a bowl, then add a little water at a time to form a creamy paste.  Then add 20 drops of each essential oil and stir well.

Pour into your paper lined muffin tins.  Allow the mixture to dry for a day or two.

Voila you have heavenly scented tablets ready to enjoy in your next shower.

I don’t have mini muffin tins.  I had the wrappers – I know that doesn’t make any sense.  I also used other  small decorative containers that have a pleasing shape.

Filled and ready to dry over night.

Store tablets in an air tight container.

I find these scents to be soothing and restorative as well as pleasing to my allergy suffering sinuses.

To use, place tablet in a location in your shower where just a small amount of the water hits the tablet at a time, otherwise they will dissolve too quickly.  The steam will release the calming scent.

A little herbal information.

Eucalyptus – rejuvenates the mind and may decongest your sinuses.

Rosemary – Reduces anxiety and pairs nicely with lavender.

Lavender –  Calming and reduces anxiety and stress.

I hope you give these a try and that you find a little happy too.

See you later, Bye!

fly strong

I’ve been waiting for my new year, one word mantra to come to me.  I was afraid I wasn’t going to receive it.  However, as I sat talking with my doctor last week, it hit me.

Strength. Strong.

1. The state, property, or quality of being strong.
2. The power to resist attack; impregnability.
3. The power to resist strain or stress; durability.
4. The ability to maintain a moral or intellectual position firmly.
5. Capacity or potential for effective action: a show of strength.

I want the whole package, Body, Mind and Soul.

My doctor says that my entire body has become unconditioned. That is a polite way of saying I am fat and out of shape.

I will be starting physical therapy again very soon, and then on to an exercise program.  I am so looking forward to this.

Not because I am an exercise nut, no ugh I hate to exercise, but my body wants to be healthy.

My desire for myself is to become physically stronger, and for my creative endeavors to be reflective of this too.

I want to convey a sense of strength and fortitude,  and the hope of what is possible, even when I create a gentle humble object.

Strength, strong and assured.  On that note, a peak at a new design I have completed and added to my shop.  I hope that it expresses the strength that is found in delicate beauty.

I have sewn vintage seam binding and new vibrant blue burlap together to form a background for the vintage image of a Lazuli Bunting.  Remember those cigarette cards I scored the other week?  I’ve transferred them to fabric.

I’ll apologize for the poor quality photos, it is dark and dreary today.

I have spring on my mind – can you tell?

See you later,

Wonder how this scary mess could turn into something productive?

We had snow again, during the night.  Today is a good day to stay in and work on a few projects, including cleaning up this mess.
