cool nights warm days in my own private cathedral

These are the days of autumn.  Forecasters in our area say that the leaf color this year will be somewhat lackluster.

We turn the heat on at night and the AC on during the day – crazy.  Me, I’m holding on to the warm weather as long as I can and dancing in the gardens with the last of the flowers.  The light that sparkles off the morning dew and streams through the ornamental grasses makes my garden feel like my own private cathedral.

I eat too many potatoes, that is why my rear end is the size of Texas.  Yesterday while I was in the grocery store the clouds parted, a stream of brilliant light shone down and angels began to sing.  There – right there –  in front of me was a bin of colossal football sized potatoes, stocked full with a large sign advertising the enormity of such potato bliss.   Oh my goodness, I had gone to potato heaven.  I stood there just staring, apparently losing all sense of time and place as I finally snapped to it when I heard a woman say in a frustrated voice  “EXCUSE ME – You’re blocking the potatoes.”

Seriously, I wanted to fill my cart with said colossal football potatoes and make a u-turn straight to the butter isle.

Red Dirt Farm Stand – plans and dreams for 2017

I run a small – very small honor system farm stand at the edge of our farm.  I sell fresh eggs from our chickens and cottage style flowers I grow in our gardens. Sometimes I sell my handmade items too.  This year I hope to expand the offerings.
