In an average Southwest Florida neighborhood, our future home is the complete opposite of our farm in Virginia. However, just as we do in Virginia, we spend our time working hard in the gardens and yard followed by lazy time in the pool. Visits to Corkscrew Swamp or The Edison Ford Museum are a few of the musts. Collecting sand dollars on a Sanibel beach or seashells in Captiva is always a good time.
Our back yard is teeming with wildlife, many different kinds of birds, alligators, otters, iguana the neighborhood raccoon named LuLu who likes to eat bananas.
Our tripod cat, TC, makes the trip with us and helps us not feel so homesick for the other feathered and furry babies.
Over the years my Dad has vacationed here with us. He especially likes that our home is on a golf course and that he can play a round of golf any time.
Someday, we will retire here, in the meantime, it is a place for us to take a break from our busy lives. Occasionally I write about our visits and share photos from our other “happy place.”
