The earth is ready to shake off her winter blanket.  There are quiet stirrings and subtle shuffling of the layers.

The robins are singing sweetly at sunup.

The scent in the air is different too.

A new sheriff in town

Snow is on the way.  A hush is in the air, that stillness that always seems to come before snowfall.

Chicken Yoga

On a not typical day, by 8:30 A.M.

I baked a loaf of bread and started a second one.

I baked a batch of cookie bars.

  I put beans and a ham bone in the crock pot for dinner.

I opened up the farm stand and set up the displays and filled the cooler with eggs.

  I met two customers and did a farm tour with them.

  I fed the dogs and the cats.

I let the chickens out to free range.

And.

I spent a half hour rescuing a rooster that had hanged himself. Continue reading

midwinter reprieve and a little award – Liebster that is.

An unexpected break in winter weather brought sunshine and milder temperatures.

The snow melted and is now just a cold memory.

I did the warmer weather sunshine chicken dance out by the farm stand.

Neighbors drove by and honked at me.

I’m sure they were thinking there goes that crazy lady doing weird shit again.
